What is going on at the Grove household....

I am blogging late at night so my brain is without words. Here are brief descriptions for you because if I tried writing more it would sound odd!

This week while my hubby and I were out searching for a sofa I found this beauty. It was sitting in a thrift store with a $25 price tag. I love good deals!!

This company sent me a canvas of my favorite picture of my kids taken by Yan Photography. Isn't it gorgeous??? It is seriously my favorite art piece in my house.

Blue Blue Blue......

I am listening to some delightful Christmas music right now so you would assume that I would be thinking about the colors green and red. Nope. I am thinking about blue. Maybe because I saw a Christmas tree with some really cool blue ornaments yesterday. Or because I have a blue poster on my wish list this year. Whatever the reason is, I am liking blue.

Les Bois Tuesday: Puffy Mondaes

If there was a moment that I wanted to learn how to knit or discover how to paint an oil painting, it was when I walked into Puffy Mondaes. What a fun place! Whether you are into pottery, painting, making art dolls, sewing, knitting, spinning weaving, fiber art or even creating mosaic tile, there is something for everyone. Puffy Mondaes specializes in unique, local, sustainable, fair wage and organic fiber products for dying, spinning, weaving, knitting and crocheting. Also it is a very kid friendly place. (There was a basket of toys to entertain my kids while I peeked around. Thank you Puffy Mondaes!)

Keren and Aaron Brown opened up shop in December of 07. It seems that Puffy Mondaes is keeping them quite busy. They offer classes for almost everything I listed (above) throughout the week for adults and kids. And every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-10 pm is Open Craft Night. (All class schedules are listed on there site.)

They have a great gift selection as well.

Read more about Puffy Mondaes on there site and make sure to stop by and say hello! They are located on 12th Ave S. in Nampa.

Challenge....

My cousin Rachelle is doing a Mommy and Me photo challenge over at her blog, KenziePoo and I just had to participate. This is the last night to get involved but if you have an image of you and your little one, post it and send it on over to Rachelle. Read more about the challenge here.
My moment below was brought to us by the freezing cold weather here in Idaho.

Another one....

Remember the $7 headboard?? Well, I was going to post the whole home this week and time slipped away so here is another teaser from the house. Btw, this lovely home is owned by Elise who is a jewelry and clothing designer and a boutique owner here in the Boise area. She is soooo creative!! I cant even believe the deals that she finds. Her friends found the $7 headboard at a thrift shop and held it for her to purchase. Can you believe that??!
Anyways, I will post more pics soon, I promise! Have a great weekend everyone!!! xx

What is going on at the Grove household....

Why are projects never ending? I counted 10 projects that I want to get done by Thanksgiving. That is 2 weeks away from today!!
I think projects are never ending because I love doing them and I don't want to stop. I am a project addict. Haha. Are you that way? Do you finish one project to start another?
I love re- spray painting a frame 5 different times. I love recovering the same pillow 5 different ways in the course of 5 months. ITS NEVER ENDING! But I love it.

I hung a few of my favorite little framed pictures around my hall mirror.
I inherited my Grandfathers childhood desk which I love. It was in my son's room for awhile but then he got a cute schoolhouse desk so we moved it into our room. I added anthro knobs and placed it under the art wall in my bedroom. I bought the pineapple lamp at the Farm House Sale and then found some accessories from around my house including the clock and displayed them on the desk. (I also walked around my home yesterday with a handful of batteries because I realized most of my clocks didnt even work.)

Before

After

And yay for my giveaway prize that I won from {this is glamorous}! I just recived it today and I cant wait to use it!!!
Thats whats happening in my neck of the woods. I hope your projects are going as planned. The one thing to remember is to have fun and dont be afraid of messing up. Spray paint covers EVERYTHING!

Les Bois Tuesday: Renewal...

Some of my favorite furniture pieces in my own home came from this shop. Renewal Consignment Homewares is the one stop shop for great vintage and gently used furniture and home accessories. Visiting Renewal is like going on a treasure hunt. You never know what to expect but you will always find something that you "need".

Renewal always has a big variety of vintage and designer chairs and who doesn't love chairs!!

How cute is this baby carriage!

I love this retro pendant! The red would be so fun in a space. Please someone get it and send me a picture of the outcome! Or you have the option of buying it for me. Sound good?? :)

If you are interested in selling your furniture at Renewal, contact them at 208-338-5444. They are looking for good quality used furniture and accessories. Please make sure the products are gently used and clean.

The hunt is on.......

When I browse sites, blogs and magazines I am usually searching for something specific. A product, a certain room or even just a specific color. I might not even be in the market to buy whatever I am looking for but I am still hunting. My latest hunt has been for pendant lights. I love pendant lights! Modern, retro, streamline, all of them! So this morning as I searched thru my list of blogs I found these pendants. The top and bottom look so great in there rooms and that middle one, I just LOVE!

via Decor8 and Made By Girl.

BTW, speaking of lighting, I am so excited to be receiving a modern pendant light for my guest room (that I am slowly putting together) from All Modern who just added the fabulous Vitra line to there site. I cant wait to post pictures when the project is fnished!
See you tomorrow!!! xx

What is going on at the Grove household....

I blew up a few of our family pictures that we got done recently. I put the feet portrait (which is my favorite picture ever. And its of FEET!) in one of my wooden frames that I had sprayed lightly with white paint.

Quick, easy and sentimental.

If you commented on my giveaway last night, sorry but its been deleted. The company thought that I was Australian and they cannot ship to the states:(
But keep checking back for more holiday giveaways!

Want more?

There is something about the photographs below that leave you wanting to see more but they are so simple and lovely that you don't really need more. Sometimes seeing more of a space leaves you disappointed. When I choose images for my blog I am always looking for the perfect shot and the perfect shot is sometimes just a corner of a room, the left side of a vignette or a shot of a lonely chair. I really do want to see more of the images below because I know that they are amazing spaces but sometimes its best to enjoy the corner and leave the rest of the image for the owner.

Its coming....

Les Bois Tuesday is postponed today. So instead I thought that I would post some modern holiday inspiration.
Some of us don't like thinking about decorating for Christmas until at least after thanksgiving. Some have already decorated. (Sheesh.) And then there are peeps like me who are planning it out in our heads. The great thing about Christmas decor like the images below is that its modern enough that you could decorate early and it wont be overdone. What are you thoughts? Are you already decorating? Are you offended that I even brought this up? :)

What is going on at the Grove household....

Here are more images of my old office. It is now a cozy sitting area. I LOVE being in this room.
It took 3 coats of crisp white paint to cover the old dark grayish brownish color. (My lovely husband is the paint champion!) He also created that quirky black piece of art with tape and yarn. The pillow fabric I purchased from a local quilting shop. I decoupaged the top of my side table with magazine pages. I covered the lampshade with a vintage looking fabric. The wood shelve was leftover wood from another project. And don't forget my $45 settee!!! xx

Here is some fabulous images found on Southern Living's website.

Southern Living Magazine has gotten a face lift. I was able to preview the new look and it looks great! I wanted to try about every recipe that I saw. Its wonderful to see a mature magazine like Southern Living get a fresh new look.
